The call for a new edition of this book within two years is some evidence that it was needed. Since its appearance I have had nothing to recant. Many statements are daily made upon the sub jcet of uric acid and its action or inertia in causation of disease; but the lapse of time has strengthened the positions I had previously taken, and has developed fresh evidences of their impregnability.
